We provide for Yajmaan booking slots in the Yaga being performed in Arya Samaj either in the weekly satsang or on special occasions. This enables better engagement with members and guests who would like to perform the Yagya as a Yajmaan.
Current Situation
- Most Arya Samaj do not have a systematic approach to book slots for Yajmaan in the Sunday Yagya. Normally, those who reach on time for the Yagya sit as Yajmaan. In a few of the weeks, anyone wishing to perform the Yagya may inform Arya Samaj officials of his intent. Normally, they make a mental note of it. Since, there is not much demand to become a Yajmaan, the slots are allocated to those who make this request.
- However, situations arise when either the officials miss making note of the request for Yajmaan. Or multiple people have requested for a Yajmaan and reach the spot to take the Yajmaan slot. This leads to embarrassment.
Solution rolled out in Arya Samaj Chennai
- We encourage members and guests of the Samaj to be the yajmaan to celebrate special occasions in their family by performing Yagya in Arya Samaj. They can book their slots online.
- Enable the booking process by going online. i.e., those desirous of performing Yajna can go online and book their slot. They will get an automated reminder a day before to ensure that they reach the Samaj on time. If we know of multiple Yajmaan having booked slots in a particular week, we place extra Havan Kunds. Thus, no one who has booked a slot goes back disappointed. If there is any payment associated with becoming a Yajmaan, even that can be initiated. If there are no slots, then it will be communicated to yajmaan and they can participate as yajmaan in the next satsang.
Impact
- It has generated a lot of excitement among the larger community to participate as a Yajmaan in the Yagya. Every Sunday, there are multiple Yajmaan booking their slots to perform Yajna. During the annual Gayatri Yagya, more than 200 families to book the Yajmaan slot.
- Thus, Yajmaan participates in a methodical manner. They get automated reminders a day before the satsang through whatsapp. They are encouraged to participate with their entire families as separate slots are booked for every member of the family. The experience of participating in the Yagya becomes a memorable one for the Yajmaan.
How can you join ?
- After discussions in your committee, you can fill up the Form evincing your interest to roll this out in your Arya Samaj. We will send you the link that you can share with your member and guest community. You will also need to spread the word and proactively invite people to become Yajmaan in your Satsang.
- Any person who is interested to book yajmaan slot can do the same online. The confirmation about whether a slot is available or not will be received to them through whatsapp.
- They will get a reminder a day before the satsang so that they can reach satsang at the correct time.
- A fee can be charged to book the slot for yajmaan.
It will take a few months to pick up if people are not already in the habit of booking Yajmaan slots. We will need to persevere with our efforts to invite and convince people. We can help you in marketing in the following ways
